Background
The American Association
of Independent News Distributors is a non-profit professional
organization comprised of newspaper and magazine distributors
and members of the publishing industry. The association
was formed in 1973 and has grown to include members
from 33 states and three countries. However, the changing
landscape for print publications has made business
conditions difficult for the AAIND members and the
association itself. In order to combat the problems
facing the industry and for the organization to survive,
the board of directors realized it must reinvent itself
or face declining membership and eventually become
irrelevant in the publishing industry. |

Solution
The first thing we realized
was that AAIND was not capitalizing on the power of
the internet. They had a website but it
was template driven and supplied by an outside company
that charged an astronomical fee basically for the
use of the template and hosting. The organization was
surprised to find out that they didn’t actually own
the website and if they canceled their account they
would have nothing. Realizing that it was more cost
effective to have a custom made site that the organization
would actually own, AAIND turned to EZ Marketing Group
to create their new website. |

Result
It wasn’t long before the board
of directors of the organization realized the synergies
between AAIND and EZ Marketing Group. EZ Marketing
has since taken over complete management of AAIND.
Services provided include website content management,
promotional email campaigns, print newsletter design,
editing, production, conference and meeting planning,
and all accounting and administrative functions. AAIND
is now forming new partnerships with publishers and
professional organizations and are poised to see a
significant increase in membership for 2007.
